Relfection

For this assignment, we had to take pictures to make a thaumatrope. A thaumatrope is a series of images that make one image or that simply go together. To put it together, you flip one image and secure them together so that one is rotated. Once you attach string to both sides of the secured images and spin it fairly fast, it appears as though there is just one image. When I first got this assignment, I didn't know what to do. There were many simple things that were easily doable once I thought about it, but I couldn't think of anything that I considered creative. Eventually, I decided to take pictures of random things I saw around my house. I ended up taking pictures for multiple thaumatropes. Finally, I chose my pictures and decided to keep it simple. It was a shoe box and shoes. They were one of the best choices for me because the backgrounds, for the most part, were plain and easy to photoshop. That ended up being true when I got on to photoshop but because it was my first time using it, I had some difficulties editing my two pictures. After a couple days of restarting and adjusting my editing, I finished and had the two images spaced correctly. Once they were printed, I had to find a circle template that fit the size of my images and cut them. Then I flipped one picture and glued them with string on both sides. I had finished constructing the thaumatrope and started spinning it. The thaumatrope worked but it was only clear when I spun it very fast. I was still happy that I was successful in the placement and editing to make it work. I learned many things from this assignment. It was my first real experience with photoshop, I went through the decision making progress for finding a good picture, and most notably, I learned what a thaumatrope was!
